Listen On:

Pete Lembo is the new head coach at the University of Buffalo. Coach Lembo exemplifies a CEO approach through his emphasis on organization, development, and creating a balanced team.

With a business degree from Georgetown and graduate degree from Albany, Lembo has always prioritized a foundation of organizational leadership based on business principles. He believes in a flat organizational structure. Everyone in his program, from the coordinators to young coaches on the frontlines of recruiting to support staff bring unique expertise, are the best fits for their roles, and all have a contributing voice to decision making.

Coach Lembo cultivates balance and harmony across his program through a strong sense of development and a common, transparent language for all players and staff members. This commitment to development is critical for success in college football’s current landscape of NIL and transfer portals.

Lembo brings a Ph.D. in college football to UB. His playing and coaching journey spans Division III, FCS, and FBS levels. At the lower levels, he learned what it takes to run a holistic program from wearing multiple hats. At the FBS level, he has head coaching experience at Ball State, and he’s worked for top-flight coaches like Shane Beamer and Mike Norvell. He is a talented recruiter, having honed this skill while successfully recruiting the highest levels of the SEC.

Now at the University of Buffalo, Coach Lembo’s vision for the program is to develop his staff and players into the best versions of themselves. The Bulls aim to compete for conference championships, bowl games, and field a team that the university and community can take great pride in. Best of luck to Coach Lembo and the Bulls in 2024.
