Developing the Young Guys in Camp

Developing the Young Guys in Camp

Loren Johnson and Jordan Hogan explain how they prioritize young players in their programs, motivate them in camp by building activities around them, and include the older players in the development.

Listen On:

“We try our best to get everybody who is low on the depth chart… an opportunity to mesh, find out what’s going on, and play with their age group.”
– Loren Johnson

When camp starts, we immediately dive into getting our starters ready for the week one kickoff that is right around the corner. Certainly, that is the main objective. We want our team ready to win.

However, we are also playing the long game as coaches. Most of our guys fall into the developmental category, especially the youngest players in our program.

In this episode, Loren Johnson and Jordan Hogan discuss how they create both fun and opportunity for their young players and how their methods help the older players improve communication and mentor those younger players.

“It’s really important to have these guys conversing with one another.”
– Jordan Hogan
