#1 Red Zone Offense Keys to Success – Ryan Larsen, Head Coach, Carnegie Mellon University

In this segment from the 2024 D3 Top 25 Clinic, Ryan Larsen shares the way the Tartans plan and practice their Red Zone offense. His template for excelling in this area of offense is one that can be utilized at all levels.

Ryan Larsen is the head football coach at Carnegie Mellon University. The Tartans have finished 11-1 in both of Coach Larsen’s first two seasons in charge of the program. In 2022, Carnegie Mellon completed an undefeated 10-0 regular season and advanced to the second round of the Division III playoffs.

Carnegie Mellon has excelled on offense under Larsen, who came to Pittsburgh from Columbia University, where he served as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. The Tartans rank among the best D3 offenses in many offensive categories. They have been one of the best in D3 Football in Red Zone scoring the past two seasons, finishing second in 2022 and first in 2023.

Previous to Columbia, Coach Larsen served on the staffs at Stevenson University, Rhodes College, Wabash College, and Indiana University.
