LFG Clinic has launched its next Position Coach School, DL Coach School, a complete curriculum built to help defensive line coaches teach the position with greater clarity, structure, and purpose.
A Complete Defensive Line Coach Curriculum
DL Coach School gives coaches more than a collection of clinic talks. It organizes the LFG defensive line library into a clear learning path that helps coaches build their room, sharpen their teaching, and connect daily work to game-day production. The curriculum covers the full progression of defensive line play, including room identity, fundamentals, practice structure, run-game technique, pass rush systems, stunts and movement, and the connection between individual development and the larger structure of the defense.
The goal is simple: give defensive line coaches a better way to learn the position, teach it with more consistency, and build a room that improves over time.
Module 1 Sets the Foundation for How to Think and Teach the Position
The curriculum opens with Module 1: Foundation — How to Think + Teach the Position, a section built around the question every defensive line coach has to answer before drills, schemes, and pass rush moves ever show up: What does your room stand for, and how will you teach it?
This opening module focuses on leadership, organization, daily standards, room expectations, and teaching progression. It is built to help coaches define how they operate, what their room looks like, and how they will teach the position from the ground up.
Jess Simpson Opens the Module with Leadership and Organization
The first section of Module 1 features Georgia Tech Defensive Line Coach Jess Simpson, whose lessons center on mission, purpose, leadership, and organization. His clips help set the tone for how a coach operates, how standards are communicated, and how structure becomes part of the teaching process. His lessons in this module include Mission, Purpose, Process, Lead Don’t Manage, How You Organize Is How You Teach, and a combined notebook lesson built from his staff notebook material.
Chris Achuff Builds the Daily Structure of the DL Room
From there, South Alabama’s Chris Achuff takes the module into the daily habits and standards of defensive line play. His lessons help coaches define what the room does every day, what fundamentals matter most, and how practice should connect to game-day play. Module 1 includes Achuff’s lessons on Syracuse D-Line Philosophy, Talent Is Not the Issue, 7 Fundamentals, Daily Musts, and Practice Philosophy.
Liam Klein Defines the Standard, Mindset, and Expectations
The next section features Georgia Tech Recruiting Coordinator Liam Klein, who provides the module with a clear picture of what the room should look like in terms of standard, mindset, and expectations. His lessons help coaches define the behaviors, effort level, and day-to-day accountability that shape a defensive line room. Module 1 includes Klein’s The Gold Standard, Effort, Attitude, Toughness, and Unit Expectations.
Jeremy Hawkins Closes Module 1 with a Teaching Progression
The module closes with Syracuse Edge Coach Jeremy Hawkins, whose lessons help connect room philosophy to actual player instruction. His clips on Defensive Line Philosophy and The 5 Phases of Defensive Line Play give coaches a simple framework for teaching the position step by step.
